2007-2008 DRESS CODE AND UNIFORM POLICY
Dress Code Philosophy: A student’s appearance has an impact on his/her attitude and behavior. Respect for the school community and for each other is manifested in a number of ways including personal appearance and grooming. As Christians, it is important to show respect for the learning environment as well as oneself. The dress code is designed to help students develop a sense of modesty (1 Timothy 2:9), moderation (1 Peter 3:3-5), and gender distinction (Deuteronomy 22:5). Uniform Policy Statement: The primary purpose of Huntington Christian School’s Uniform Policy is to assure that the students of HCS are modest and well groomed for all school academic accomplishments. Uniform dress helps eliminate the distraction of competition and emphasis on dress or financial status. HCS students are expected to be in uniform except on designated non-uniform days. It is the responsibility of the parents to see that their children are dressed in accordance with this code. All clothing must be kept clean and in good repair. Disregard for the uniform policy will result in disciplinary action. In the event a student is sent to the office for uniform violation, the decision of the administration is final. Student Spirit (Theme) Days: These days will be held at various times during the school year as designated by the Student Council. Students not dressing according to theme must be in school uniform. Scout Uniform Apparel: Scouting apparel may be worn on meeting days. Students must be in full scouting apparel or scout top with school uniform approved slacks, shorts or skirt. Sport’s Uniforms: The sport’s jersey may be worn on game day with school uniform approved pants/shorts/skirts.
