ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: GRADES 1- 8 

 

1.         AGE:  We recommend the following birth dates for success at the specific grade levels:                                                                                                                                      

By September 1,   2003  for grade 1
By September 1, 2002  for grade 2
By September 1, 2001  for grade 3
By September 1, 2000  for grade 4
By September 1, 1999  for grade 5
By September 1, 1998  for grade 6
By September 1, 1997  for grade 7
By September 1, 1996  for grade 8

 

2.         INFORMATION MEETING:  All new parents to the school are required to attend a New Parent Information

                                                               Meeting in order to register a new student for September 2009.

Thursday, March 12, 2009  - 7:00 p.m.

Additional New Parent Meetings will be set as necessary.

 

3.         TESTING:  Each student (grades 1-8) will be recommended as ready for entrance after the following have

                                 been evaluated:  testing results, SAT scores, the current year report card,  and  present

                                 teacher evaluation.

 

PRIORITY REGISTRATION FOR GRADES 1- 8

 

First Priority:          Returning Students.  Registration Packets must be completed correctly and returned to

                                   the school office by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4th.

 

Second Priority:*   Siblings of  H.C.S. students and students whose parents are active (60% attendance) First

                                   Christian Church members. Students must successfully pass an achievement test for their

                                   current grade level and be evaluated on the criteria listed above. Parents must be members

                                   of First Christian Church as of September 1, 2008  to be eligible for priority.  Parents must

                                   notify the registrar of their intent to enroll siblings by February 1, 2009 in order to maintain

                                   priority status.  Church membership must be verified by February 1, 2009.

                                                                       Registration Date:  As students are notified of acceptance.

 

Third Priority:*       Outside students whose parents have expressed an interest by Thursday, March 12,

                                   2009, and who successfully pass an achievement test for their current grade level.

                                   Registration Date:  As students are notified of acceptance.

 

Fourth Priority:*     Outside students whose parents have expressed an interest after Thursday, March 12,

                                    2009, and who successfully pass the an Achievement Test for their current grade level.

                                    Registration Date: As students are notified of acceptance. 

 

 

* Students who cannot be accommodated will be placed on a waiting list in their priority category according to readiness for the 2009-2010 school year.  Waiting lists are valid until January 2010.
