DISCIPLINE POLICY
Discipline is dealt with as soon after the infraction as possible to reinforce the importance of standards and their relationship to the disciplinary procedures. Discipline may be just a conversation with the student, time outs, loss of privileges, detention, conference with the parent and, if necessary, a parent-student conference with an administrator. Corporal punishment (striking pupils) is not permitted at the school. The administrators are authorized to suspend a student for disciplinary reasons for a period not to exceed five days at a time. When suspension is necessary, parents must be advised in advance of the action. All suspensions must be reported to the Board. The Board may expel students for misconduct. PROBLEM RESOLUTIONParents must understand that our schools are Christian Schools and a ministry of First Christian Church of Huntington Beach and that the teachings are consistent with Biblical principles. Parents must also agree to abide by the provisions and policies as set forth by the schools, including spiritual goals and values, dress codes and discipline policies. Parents also agree that it is important for them to be responsible and establish and maintain a home life environment, which will support the Biblical teachings and beliefs of First Christian Church.
Parents are expected to co-operate with the staff and administration. Parents are expected to treat all staff with respect and dignity, calmly discussing any disagreements they may have in all matters including discipline.
The Administrator(s) is given the responsibility of the day to day operations of the school. This includes overseeing student safety and daily discipline issues.
The school board is given the responsibility of overseeing policy, curriculum, finances, future Planning/goals and development.
It is expected that school problems will be handled between parent and teacher in Christian love and according to Scriptural patterns.
If the parent still has a concern, the parent must bring the problem to the attention of the administrator.
If the problem has still not been resolved, the parent may write a letter to the School Board c/o of the school administrator. The administrator will talk with the Board president about placing the item on the agenda. Depending on the nature of the item it may or may not be placed on the next regularly scheduled agenda.
The Board President or representative will issue a written response to the concerned individual.
