CHAPELS

Chapel is held once a week in the Chapel. Chapel time is broken down into grade levels. Grades Kindergarten-2nd meet from 10:20-10:50 every Wednesday, grades 3-5 meet from 8:55-9:30 every Wednesday and Middle School meets every Friday from 10:30-11:10. Parents are always welcome. Chapels are an important part of the Christian school experience. The purpose and focus is to bring our classes together to worship God in song, pray together, and listen to a variety of guests to help us grow in our spiritual life.

PURPOSE AND ETIQUETTE OF CHAPELS
Purpose

  • Glorify God and worship Him
  • Communicate spiritual truths
  • Allows teachers and students ministry opportunities

Etiquette
Reverence for Middle School Chapel is demonstrated through respect for God’s House and those who conduct and lead chapel services.

Respect for God during chapel is demonstrated by the following:

  • Entering chapel with an expectation to meet with God.
  • Focusing attention on what is happening in the service during announcements, worship time, and the message.
  • Listening intently to the message for purposes of applying the truth to my life.
  • Leaving chapel in an orderly manner.

Lack of respect for God during chapel is demonstrated by the following:

  • Running into chapel to ones seat.
  • Continuously talking with your neighbor and distracting those around you.
  • Putting your feet on the pew in front of you.
  • Getting out of your seat during the service.

Why are reverence and respect important during middle school chapels?

  • When a student demonstrates a lack of respect for God during chapel, his or her actions tell God and those around him or her that God is less important than what he or she is doing at the time.
  • When you distract others, you prevent God from speaking to those people. You are interrupting God. If a teacher has to deal with you, this is an added distraction to the service and to the teacher and those around you.
  • A student running into chapel (namely racing someone or getting a seat before someone else does) demonstrates a purpose other than what God would want you to focus on in the service.
  • Putting your feet on the pew or seat gives extra wear and tear that God’s money will have to replace. This is money that could be spent on ministry purposes.
  • When a student leaves their seat during service, it is distracting to the person leading the service and to everyone else. This takes away from the focus of the service.

The Christian Flag: I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag, and to the Savior for whose kingdom it stands. One brotherhood, uniting all Christians in service and in love.

The Bible: I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's Holy Word. A lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Its words will I hide in my heart that I may not sin against God.
