Bethany School Accountability Report Card 2006-2007
Greetings from the Principal
Bethany School is a high performing school, where approximately 240 children of various backgrounds and ethnic makeup come together to “Believe, Achieve, and Succeed.” Our small school size provides us with a true sense of family and affords us the opportunity to teach children and their parents about God, His Word, His Son Jesus Christ, and the working of the Holy Spirit. Bethany is a place where children receive a great academic education, along with the nurturing and encouragement they need to reach their full potential.
This report will serve as an opportunity to assess our program and establish a vision for the future that prepares today’s children for tomorrow. We view this report as an opportunity to maintain open lines of communication with parents and the community as a whole. We use a variety of curriculum to meet the needs of our students. Along with the basic academics, here at Bethany we provide daily Bible curriculum, Chapel once a week, a state of the art computer lab, physical education for all children, as well as after school clubs such as instrumental music, Spanish, chess and science.
School Safety Plan
The safety of our children is of the utmost concern. We have practice drills for fire and earthquake on a regular basis. Bethany has a safety plan and is constantly evaluating and revising it.

Educators
Many of our teachers
are fully credentialed and hold a valid teaching credential or equivalent. Some have their Masters degree. A few are in a credentialing program and will be receive their California Credential in the near future. Teachers may avail themselves of various staff development opportunities through ACSI, as well as through LBUSD. The
staff has recently received training in essential teaching skills, reading
development and technology.
Instruction/Curriculum
The Bethany staff asseses itself on an ongoing basis to maintain quality instruction and excellent curriculum.
Student Achievement
Our emphasis is
on literacy and math, through the use of high quality curriculum and infusing
these subjects throughout curricular areas. Our SAT10 scores are one
indication that we are working toward this.
Instructional Minutes
Bethany has 176
instructional days this year. The instructional minutes for our school
year are greater than required by California state law and more than most
public schools. We also offer a full day kindergarten program.

SAT 10 Testing 2004-2005
Bethany continues
to exceed the national average in all levels. The State of California, however, is now only reporting scores for the 3rd & 7th
grade NPR for the 04-05 testing period. We are reporting all levels and comparing
to local schools where scores are available.
